Schedules and coverage
511 regional GTFS supplies rail, fixed-route bus, and ferry schedules. Each dataset records its source snapshot, operators, and supported dates. Select a date, Pacific time, departure or arrival search, and transit modes.
Journey calculations
A round-based timetable search includes walking access, boarding waits, rides, transfers, and final walking. Calendar exceptions and overnight service are respected. Frequency-only service and interpolated stop times are labeled as estimates. GTFS pathways and directed OpenStreetMap paths connect stops.
Walking and driving
Walking follows mapped public paths and uses USGS elevation to model slope where available. Driving uses posted or road-class speeds on directed roads, including mapped turn restrictions. Congestion, parking delays, toll amounts, disruptions, and live traffic are not included. Unconnected points are unavailable.
Area evidence
Local places come from OpenStreetMap. Rental context uses dated September 2026 apartment averages from Apartments.com / CoStar by bedroom count: provider-area averages for reviewed neighborhoods (13 areas in San Francisco and Oakland), otherwise citywide averages for 11 Bay Area cities. Provider areas may not match map boundaries. These are published averages, not live listings, medians or station-area estimates, and they never reorder results or filter by budget. Places without a supported reference retain historical Census housing estimates; Census population and housing baselines preserve their geography, vintage, and uncertainty. Unsupported evidence is unavailable.
Map surfaces
Heatmaps and time rings summarize the same selected journey scenario. Grid sampling and short endpoint connectors are modeled. This atlas supports commute comparison rather than turn-by-turn navigation.
